Camping chairs attract Labor's super profits tax

camping chairs.jpg

Wondering past a camping shop today. Out front a row of camping chairs from $30 up to over $100.

For a camping chair? It seems that this once humble item has become a luxury item. The super profits tax should be applied to chair manufacturers.

$100 for a camping chair?

A long time ago we made the decision that a chair was an essential item for a camping trip. It's a no brainer.

But $100? Is any camping chair worth that much?

But never fear - you can still buy the cheap ones for seven bucks at Bunnings or BIG W or other such places.

$100 for a camping chair, next we will be paying $10000 for a tent. I wouldn't buy either. There are plenty of good camping chairs etc to be had at garage sales and local fairs. The trick is to be on the lookout all the time for things not just when you need them. Plus you will pay a fraction of the cost.
From our local hard rubbish I've picked up a 3 way fridge in good working order just needed the gas line, chainsaw needed fuel hose, camp stove stand, washup stand, etc you just need to keep a look out. Compact size Webber bbq, looked as though it had been used once. I guess it all comes back to your budget if you have unlimited funds to buy what you require then $100 chair is ok, but if you have limited money, then a little searching around will get you what you require and still have enough money to put fuel in the car.

For those of us who are getting old and feel the cold the insulation is great!
