Fire starters can be made from cotton wool and vaseline. Check out the video to see how effective this is.

Hi , nice blog.
I tried this a few years ago up in the Australian Alps in snow. Worked a treat and had a raging fire going in no time. The more vaseline the better! Usually only walk in World heritage areas or national parks that ar Fuel Stove only so no need to cary it now!

We used this on the weekend - worked a treat. It doesn't use much vaso and just 8 cotton wool balls got our fire going.
